What is Dia de Muertos, you ask? it literally translates to Day of the Dead, and it is celebrated on November 1 and 2 every year.
Don't worry, this isn't a day of rituals and scary stuff, quite the contrary. It is a holiday to remember the loved ones who have left this life and gone on to the after life. It was originally a pre-colonization holiday celebrated in August, where Mexican Aztec indigenous ancestors laid food, drink and gift offerings to the souls of their spirits to "take away" with them as they visited the world of the living and returned to the world of the dead. After colonization the church moved the holiday, as it agreed with its symbolism, to November so the celebrations coincided with the already established All Souls ...Read more

Hi my friends!
This work week, officially finished, marks the first full six months of our reopening! To be honest with you, it feels like a year already. I think in these six months we've been overwhelmed, overjoyed and overworked- and you've been a witness to it all, as well as a supporter.
All we can manage to say still is "thank you." In these six months there have been lots of ups. Every single day we get a comment of "oh I didn't know you were here but it's great," "we love your food, so happy you're here," or "I'm so happy you're back!" Like I've said before, you're the fuel that keeps us moving. With every single one of these comments, or reviews, or emails or phone calls, my day is brightened.
In these six months we've a...Read more

Hello my friends, happy Monday! And for us, happy three months at our new place!
It has been an amazing three months in, and the lessons continue. I never imagined that we would have so much attention in such a short amount of time. Thanks to God and to local press and to you we got coverage on Chronicle, won Boston.com's Uncommon award for "Best Two-Handed Burrito" and made Time Out's Best Mexican Food in Boston list.
I think we have created a better flow to serve you quickly, while still making our food daily and fresh. At the same time I would like to make a "Villa Mexico Guide" for our new friends who have an expectation of Mexican food, because they've eaten at places that cook differently from us.
